Our story

Craft beer was never about the app.

People think this is a beer app. It's really a people app.

WhatsOnTap was founded by Scott Leavitt in Burlington, North Carolina, and built over more than two years. The idea came from something simple he kept noticing: the most important conversations of his life had happened over a pint, across a barstool, with friends.

After losing two brothers, those conversations became something more — a source of support, perspective and healing. Breweries, he realised, are more than places that serve beer. They're places where people connect.

So WhatsOnTap was built for that: helping people find a taproom worth driving to and someone to go with, and helping breweries reach the people who already drink their beer — without an algorithm deciding who gets to hear them.
